Awesome way to get the your kid off the smash and kill video games and to play a learning game that is also like a video game. The game is a detective who done it and the player has to track down all the clues to help solve the mystery. There are plot twists and when you think you know the culprit, you might be wrong. Graphics are a little throwback but the games are a little dated. That doesn't mean your child won't like it, just it's not as 3D as the newer games.

The latest entry in the Professor Layton series is pretty much the perfect portable game, assuming of course that you're into puzzle solving. It's fun and quick to pick up and play, with high production values and a ton of content. If you've played earlier entries in the series, then you won't be too surprised by this one - it follows a fairly similar formula. Professor Layton and Luke (his faithful assistant) travel to London in order to see a demonstration of a brand new invention: the Time Machine. Things go a little haywire with the demonstration, and then a few days later the Professor receives a letter in the mail from Luke - sent from 10 years in the future! This kicks off a whole adventure of puzzle solving, and things only get crazier from there. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is a lot of fun to play. If you haven't played any of the previous entries and you're into puzzle game, then definitely give this one a shot. I cannot explain how much I love this game. It is one of my childhood games and I'm so glad I was able to buy it and have it on my hand again. I inserted the cartridge on my 3ds and it seems to be working fine. I didn't play it, though. The game came well-packaged and in great conditions. It came super early too and it didn't get damaged on its way here. So far I give 5 stars.

I have about 5 hours on Unwound Future. Luke is absolutely adorable, and Professor Layton is kind and charming. The puzzles are actually compelling, but not so complex that I want to quit the game. The plot is worth following, if not just to watch Luke and Layton interact with the world. After binging Phoenix Wright, this is a great series to get into.

I am a Professor Layton fan, so my review might be a little biased, but I will try to be as honest about it as possible. If you have played any Professor Layton game in the past, you know what you should expect from the gameplay. You are playing as the two main protagonists, Layton and Luke, and try to solve as many puzzles as possible in order to progress in the story. In my opinion, the story is the most captivating aspect of the game. While there over 165 puzzles to solve, you will find yourself skipping some of the optional ones until you finish the story just because you will be so interested in seeing how it will end. There a lot of twists (some more predictable than others) and you will most likely love visiting all the places that the game forces you to visit throughout the 6-8 hours of the main story. The length is quite satisfying for a DS game, but Professor Layton games have never ended after the Credits roll. Like I said, there are over 165 puzzles to solve, some of which are only accessible after completing the game and collecting enough Picarats (points that you get for solving puzzles). If you have completed all puzzles from the previous game you should be in possession of a special code which should unlock even more puzzles in this game. Not enough? You can download a lot of additional puzzles that Level 5 released every week after the release of the game. If you have never played a Professor Layton game before you might be wondering what types of puzzles the game has in stock for you. All I can tell you is that there is a lot of variety and that you will not be dissappointed. Now, for you Professor Layton aficionados, let me tell you what I thought during my time with the game. The puzzles felt easier than the ones offered in 'The Diabolical Box' , but maybe I have yet to solve the harder ones (since I only completed the necessary puzzles to complete the story at the moment). Still, I received 60 picarats for puzzles that I believed to be easy, but I hope there are more challenging ones waiting for me in Granny Riddleton's Shack. If you are a Professor Layton fan who has yet to play this part in the series, you should get this right away as it seems to be the best in the series. Then again, I procrastinated myself (i would never buy the next game in the series before finishing all puzzles available in the previous one) and just bought this game myself, so I have yet to play the newest entry in the series, 'The Last Specter'. I hope there are many others like me who are so in love with this series. It is very unique and deserves far more attention in the U.S. (in Japan, Layton seems to be as popular as Mario).
